Adeline Mary (Steurenthaler) Weber went to be with our Lord on Aug. 18, 2009, at the age of 78. Her parents, Paul and Katie (Reininger) Steurenthaler and one infant brother preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roland Doyle Weber, and three children, Kurt Weber and wife Etta Faye, Cindy Fohn and husband David, and Will Weber and wife Monica, all of Hondo; grandchildren, Katy Graves and husband Derik, Sara McWilliams and husband Glenn, Conrad Weber, and Morgan Weber; and one great-granddaughter, Avery Graves. Adeline was born in Leon Valley, Texas, on Dec. 17, 1930. She attended Leon Valley Grade School and graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1948 where she excelled in art and won many awards. She moved, along with her parents and grandparents, to Hondo in 1952 where she met Doyle Weber. They were married at St. John's Church in Hondo on Oct. 23, 1954. She enjoyed farm and ranch life with her husband where she tended her precious flocks of sheep and chickens. Adeline relaxed with yard work and enjoyed canning vegetables and making jelly. She enjoyed bird hunting and deer hunting, not so much for the bounty, but for the time it gave her to commune with nature. While her children attended St. John's Catholic School, she helped by volunteering as an art teacher. She was also involved in the Hondo Garden Club and the Medina County Home Demonstration Club. She and Doyle enjoyed many Saturday nights either at a Quihi dance or playing pitch with friends. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Fr. Ken Dakin officiating. Pallbearers were Galen Weber, David Weber, Jim Weber, Ed Cheatle, Will Carroll and Ben A. Weber. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.
