Having celebrated her 100 birthday five days earlier, Agnes Louise Nehr Kelly of Schertz passed from this world on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023.
Born in La Coste, Jan. 21, 1923, she was the first of 10 children born to Emil and Ida Helen Biediger Nehr.
Agnes was a great seamstress, very particular with her sewing and made many dresses for her daughter and nieces. She was a good cook and gardener, her flowerbeds were beautiful. In later life she was interested in genealogy and filled many a book with family history. She shared her books at the Nehr family reunions. She also loved to travel the United States and see the natural wonders. She always stated "I wish I would have started traveling when I was younger." She made a trip to Alsace, France in 2000 and so enjoyed that trip.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Patrick Kelly, in 1951; and siblings, Elizabeth Duman, Adeline Hamm, Frank Nehr, and four infants.
Surviving are her daughter, Frances Casey (Charles) of Schertz; son, Emil Kelly (Pamela) of San Antonio; grandchildren, Patrick Casey (Amy), Kenneth Casey (Marla), Brandon Casey (Bleidis), Stephanie Casey, Brian Kelly, Jennifer Otto (Eric) and Andrea Kelly; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild; sisters, Theresa Nehr of San Antonio and Irene Cox of D'Hanis; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Nehr of Castroville.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, pausing for recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Jan. 31, 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, D'Hanis.
The family thanks her caregiver, Virginia Camona, for her loving care these last 2 1/2 years.
Memorials in Agnes' name be made to the charity of your choice.
