Alex G. Quintanilla of Hondo, Texas, passed away March 7, 2006, at the age of 72, in San Antonio. He was born August 26, 1933, in Hondo, the son of Ponciano & Marie (Garza) Quintanilla. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Alejos, Ponciano, Jr., Ector, and Mario Quintanilla; sister Elida Treviño. Alex is survived by his wife Benita (Valles) Quintanilla; daughters Irene Garcia and husband Frank of Hondo, Lucy Easter and husband Sonny of Bakersville, CA, Inez Rodriguez and husband Julio of San Antonio, Jo Ann Navarro and husband Rene of San Antonio, Judy Perez of Hondo; sons Alejandro Quintanilla, Jr. of Hondo, Abdon Quintanilla and wife Irene of Houston, Daniel Quintanilla and wife Jeannette of Castroville, Jaime Quintanilla and wife Martha of Houston, Lee Ray Quintanilla and wife Rachel of Hondo; 33 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren; sisters Odilia Garcia of Hondo, Tita Ramirez of Idaho, Mary Rose Rodriguez of Hondo. The Rosary was at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr Jeff Pehl, was at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 11, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. The pallbearers were Joe Alex Quintanilla, Kevin Quintanilla, Nicholas Nira, Carlos Quintanilla, Michael Rodriguez, Ralph Rodriguez, Miguel Garcia, Isaac Rodriguez, Lee Ray Quintanilla, Jr. Interment will follow in the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
