Alfonso Arredondo Treviño of Hondo passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the age of 80.
Born Oct. 30, 1941, in Hondo, he was the son of Domingo and Juanita Arredondo Treviño.
Alfonso served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Rival MSO #468. He and his wife, Felic were stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, and Long Beach, California. After his military career, he returned to God's Country, Hondo, Texas which was his pride and joy!
Alfonso began his Civil Engineering career at Lackland Air Force Base and was recognized for his 40 years of service in the Federal Government of the United States of America. His dedication and service contributed to numerous promotions leading up to his retirement in 2002 from Brooks Air Force Base.
In his spare time, he volunteered in his community thru various organizations such as Pruneda Post #524, as a member of the City of Hondo's Planning and Zoning Commission, and as a founding member of the Men's Prayer group at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church
His greatest legacy is his family and being a grandfather to four grandchildren, Aaron, Aspen, Shane, and Sydney. Alfonso's work ethic, diligence, and sense of fun were part of his personality which will live on forever.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings and their spouses, Mauricio Sarabia (Anita), Domingo Trevino, Pedro Trevino (Elida), Reymunda Esquibel (Cruz) and Angelita Barrios (Efrain); and brother-in-law, Esteban Bernal, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Felic Garcia Treviño; daughters, Angel Hernandez (Lupe) and Ophelia Guerrero (Armando), all of Austin; grandchildren, Aaron Scott Chapa, Aspen Tayler Hernandez, Shane Daniel Guerrero and Sydney Skylar Guerrero; siblings and their spouses, Jose Treviño (Maria), Anita Bernal, Benita T. Garcia (Arnulfo), Maria T. Harmon (Lloyd); and sister-in-law, Olivia Treviño.
Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, July 7, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at 2:15 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 2102 Ave. J, Hondo TX 78861.
