Alice Jane Kastanas Taylor passed away Jan. 31, 2017. Born Feb. 21, 1927, Alice was the daughter of G. P. Kastanas and Amanda Jane Patrick Kastanas and grew up in Virginia and West Virginia. Alice married Thomas A. Taylor of Hondo in 1953. The Taylors lived in Del Rio for many years where Tom was active in business and the Lion's Club. Alice was active in the Purple Sage Garden Club. Alice enjoyed writing poetry in her later years. They restored the Weathersbee home to be their residence in Del Rio. Later, they lived in San Antonio. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Tom, and siblings Mary Ward, Star Hall and George Kastanas. She leaves behind sisters Helen Carson, Gaynelle Ruth Kastanas, Betty Anne Branson and Catherine Boswell. Also, in-laws and nieces/nephews, and great and great-great nieces/ nephews in many states and Greece. Alice's family extend special thanks to the Taylor's nephew, Randy Posey, for his assistance and counsel in arrangements. Special thanks are also extended to Victor Sanchez, Henry Garcia, and friends and neighbors for care and assistance given to Mrs. Taylor at her last home in San Antonio. The private interment service was Feb. 8, 2017 at Oakwood Cemetery, Hondo, Texas.
