Alleen Johanna Koch

Alleen Johanna Koch of Hondo, Texas, went to her Lord on June 24, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born in Hondo on November 17, 1932, to Raymond and Cecilia Garteiser Koch. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ramona Koch.

Alleen attended St. John’s Catholic School and during that time made her First Holy Communion and Confirmation. She graduated from St. John’s School in 1946 and from Hondo High School in 1950.

She lived all her life in her family home with her sister Ramona in Hondo and, though she never married, she was always ready to volunteer to help with church and community projects any time she was needed.

In her lifetime she was a member of the Castro Colonies Heritage Association. At St. John’s Catholic Church, she was a member of Sodality of Mary, Altar Society, Guadalupana Society, Order of Martha, St. John’s Historical Association, and Society of St. Vincent De Paul. She also taught CCE and sang in the choir.

As a wonderful community volunteer, she was involved with Community Care Center, Medina County Food Pantry, and the Medina Regional Hospital Gift Shop.

She and her sister enjoyed traveling together to religious sites. Taking road trips to historical places in Texas with the family were also happy times for her.

Her cousins and her friends will miss her kind, spiritual soul.

Visitation on Wednesday, July 1, will begin at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by Rosary at 10:00, Mass at 10:30, and entombment at St. John Mausoleum.
