Amelia Barrios Sanchez of Hondo passed away at her home Monday, June 19, 2023, at the age of 81.

Born in Sterling City TX, June 9, 1942, she was the daughter of Ladislao L. and Elvira Guerrero Barrios.

Amelia was a devoted wife and a loving mother.  Amelia absolutely adored her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Juan Luis Sanchez; and brothers, Alvino, Luis and Ignacio Barrios.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Rene Sanchez (Zelda), Jaime Sanchez, Luis Sanchez (Lily); daughters, Mercedes Sanchez (Robert Butler) and Dahlia Hurst (Sam); eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Olga Bernal and Margie Rodriguez; and brother, Arturo Barrios.

Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church will be Thursday, June 22, at 8:30 a.m., followed by Rosary at 9:00 a.m., and Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
