Amy Melton Gray, age 88, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Born, Sept. 1, 1924, in Yancey, she was the daughter of William Briscoe and Mary Viola (Nixon) Melton. Amy was a longtime resident of Hondo and a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. She was a loved and loving wife and mother, devoted to her husband and children. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her and had the opportunity to be in her presence over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Kent Gray; brothers, Elroy Mofield and William A. "Beeno" Melton; and sisters, Doris Hartman and Ina Ward. Survivors are her son, William E. "Bill"Gray and wife Deborah of Hondo; daughter, Kendra Woods and husband Steve of Uvalde; and grandchildren, Clinton Gray, Steve Woods, Justin Woods, Ginger Woods and Rebecca Woods. Funeral service was held Friday, July 12, 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Hondo, followed by interment at Yancey Cemetery.
