Angelita G. Rios of Hondo passed away on February 18, 2008, at the age of 82. She was born in Hondo on October 2, 1925, to Alejandro and Enriqueta Guedea. Angelita was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. She married Jose Rios of Rocksprings on June 29, 1942. Angellta and Jose were blessed with five children. Angelita was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed all aspects of cooking, gardening, sewing, and making a house a home. She took a very active role in her children's education and was a room-mom and joined the local PTAs in the parochial and public schools. She was also active in the GI Forum Auxiliary and with the Guadalupana Society, even serving as president. Later in life she enjoyed traveling and being part of the Nutrition Center group. Angelita is preceded in death by her husband, her parents; two sisters; Isidra Thaxton and Tomasa Aguilar, five brothers, Silverio, Frank, Domingo, Carlos, and Fernando Guedea. Survivors include two sisters, Eloisa Sanchez and Mary Brigida Aguilar, both of Hondo, two sons, J. A. Rios of Yancey and Ed Rios of Lufkin; three daughters, Lita Garcia, Emily DeLeon, and Delia Rios-Pedroza, all of Hondo; five grandchildren, five great-grand-children, and one great-great-granddaughter. Rosary will be recited by the Guadalupanas at 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Chapel. Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Ken Dakin at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's on Tuesday, February 26, with burial in the afternoon at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kim DeLeon, Roland DeLeon, Steven De-Leon, Hector Garcia, Velma Hernandez, Isaac DeLeon and Raven DeLeon.
