Anita Louise
Batteau-Cotton
August 8, 1961 – September 26, 2019
Anita Louise Batteau-Cotton of San Antonio, formerly of Hondo, 58, went to be with her Lord, on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, in San Antonio, surrounded by family.
She was born Aug. 8, 1961, in Hondo to Roy Jones Drake and Ima Jewel "Judy" Batteau.
Anita was a life-long member of the West End Baptist Church in Hondo.
Anita attended Hondo High School. After attending San Antonio College of Cosmetology, she graduated as a Certified Hairstylist Beautician and worked 11 years at Regis Hair Salon of Kerrville. She later became a Certified Nurse Aide.
She and Thermon Cotton of Franklinton, LA, were married on Nov. 13, 1993.
A caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she loved taking care of everyone without complaint. She loved the company of her family and friends, checking on everyone all the time. She had many passions in life–cooking, traveling, visiting friends, or just lounging. You knew you were in the company of a good person. Above all, her love of talking on the phone, either checking on someone or just for conversation, was her favorite pass-time. She will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Audrey Jean Batteau; brother, Leslie "Poochie" Batteau; brother, Elton Ray Batteau; and grandparents, Joseph C. and Essie Mae Johnson.
Nita leaves to cherish her memory her loving family: husband, Thermon Cotton; son, Philip (Charla Fernandez) Batteau of San Antonio; daughter, Billie Rae Debreon (Trevion) Chase of San Antonio; sons, Thermon Cotton Jr. and Romeo (Sarah) Adams of San Antonio, and Aaron J. (Shavonne) Cotton of Raeford NC; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Charles Batteau of Clute, James E. Batteau of Hondo, Joseph (Linda) Batteau of San Antonio, and Stephen (Michaela) Batteau of Las Vegas NV; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be remembered by many special friends.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, 12:00 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel in Hondo.
