Annie Belle Benke, long time resident of Hondo, was born April 24, 1929 on a farm east of Bastrop, Texas to Antone Peter Schindler and Augusta Victoria Schindler. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel Russell Benke, Sr., brothers, Bill Schindler and Frank Schindler; and daughter-in-law, Martha Benke. She is survived by sister, Lucille Cary; sons, Dan Benke and wife, Cindy and Nathan Benke and wife, Terri; granddaughters, Kaile Mizell and her husband Gary, Sarah Benke, and Hannah Benke; grandsons, Trey Benke and wife, Beth and Evan Benke; great-grandchildren, Jack Weeks, August Mizell, and Kinsler Benke; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. She worked in the school cafeterias in San Antonio, working her way up to Manager. She enjoyed life on the farm and was an avid gardener. Annie Belle passed away on August 23, 2013 in Austin. The family received friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Hondo Church of Christ, 2302 Avenue M in Hondo, Texas with Nathan Benke officiating. She will be laid to rest at 2:30 P.M. that same day at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
