Anthony "Tony" Torres of Hondo, 63, passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017. Born Oct. 14, 1953, in Beaver Dam, WI, he was the son of Raul and Juanita Cortez Torres. Tony was a proud Marine and was very passionate about his country and family. He was known for his stories and always made everyone laugh. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Sam and Raul. He is survived by his wife, Hortencia Sanchez Torres of Hondo; son, Mark Anthony Torres; daughter, Adeline Torres (Israel) Garcia; and two grandchildren, Anthony Raul Torres and Alyssa Garcia, all of San Antonio; brothers, Roy (Alicia) Torres of Hondo, Bennie Torres of D'Hanis, Patricio (Isabel) Torres of Castroville, Jimmy (Fonda) Torrez of Rocksprings; sister, Josie (Gabino) Puentes of Lubbock; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, D'Hanis. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, followed by interment at Cortez Cemetery, D'Hanis. Pallbearers are Mark Torres, Johnny Rendon, Israel Garcia, Andrew Sanchez, Martin Sanchez, and Ruben Sanchez.
