Arceil Janice
Necey Schulte
September 12, 1937 – August 30, 2019
Arceil Janice (Necey) Saathoff Schulte of Hondo, 81, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2019. Born in Hondo, Sept. 12, 1937, she was the daughter of Walter Louis and Myrtle Stiegler Saathoff. Necey lived a life of love, happiness and adventure. Family was everything to her and she loved spending time with her children, granchildren and great-grandchildren. Most will remember her for her amazing baking and cooking skills. Her pies, cakes and cinnamon rolls are famous in the Hondo area and to say, She showed love through food, is an understatement. She has blessed many people on their special daysweddings, birthdays, anniversaries and morewith her baking business that lasted more than 35 years. She also loved to go dancing, and her favorite song was Waltz Across Texas. She was a master gardener and it showed in her beautiful plants and flowers. In her spare time, Necey loved to travel, visit friends and family, and she devoted a lot of her time to her church and community. Her loving, outgoing nature brought lots of friends into her life and she was loved by so many. If she could leave us all with some advice for our lives, she'd say: Family is everything. Food is love. Be yourself. Pray every day... and never forget to dance. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, William R. Buddy Schulte; brother, Clenus Walter Saathoff; sister, Alnita Jean Haby; brother-in-law, Harold Weeber; and stepmother, Mary Jane Norton Saathoff. Survivors include her daughter, Monica Renae (Robert) Jones of Utopia; grandchildren, Meagen (Jared) Wiekamp of Utopia, Macie (Patrick) Larkin of Hondo and Chase McKenna Jones of Utopia; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Emily and Madison Wiekamp, Dayton and Brynnlan Bernal, and Robert Jones; sister, Mary Lou Weeber of Hondo and Colorado; brother-in-law, Lynn Haby of Castroville; sisters-in-law, Lillian Saathoff of Hondo and Lonnie Shuler of San Antonio; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 10:30 a.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3901 FM 2676, in Quihi, followed by interment at Quihi Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
