Obituary

In Loving Memory of Arlen G. Graff No person is ever truly alone. Those who live no more, whom we loved, echo still within our thoughts, our words, our hearts. And what they did and who they were becomes a part of all that we are, forever. Arlen Gene Graff went to his heavenly home to be with his Savior on May 30, 2006. He was born on May 10, 1938, in Hondo, Texas to the late Leo Walter Graff and Edna Lorine Etter Graff. He was baptized on June 26, 1938 and confirmed on September 7, 1952 at Quihi Bethlehem Lutheran Church. During his youth, Arlen was a member of the Hondo 4-H, raising hogs for which he earned many top honors. He was also a member of the FFA, earning Certificates of Merit in Pork Production and Parliamentary Law Chapter Conducting in 1956, and earned the Lone Star Farmer Degree 1955-56. Arlen was a member of the first band at Hondo High playing the coronet. After graduating Valedictorian of the Hondo High School Class of 1956, he was a member of the Hondo National Guard, serving from 1955-1963. Arlen married Carolyn Sue Gray on October 20, 1961. During his married life he worked at Grisham's Supermarket, SuperSave, Universal Rundle, Nester's Supermarket, Graff's Lawn Service and the Texas Department of Transportation. He was an active member of his church and community, serving as Treasurer of the Bethlehem Sunday School, member of multiple committees and Treasurer for St. Paul Lutheran, member of the EMS Board, and member of the Hondo Band Booster's. He retired in August 2003 from TXDot. Arlen was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his wife, daughter Beverly Graff Seals and husband Richard of Victoria, son Neil A. Graff and wife Stacy of Dripping Springs, granddaughters Sarah and Rebekah Graff, grandson Grayson McNay Seals, and brother Lloyd Graff of Hondo. Arlen was a truly amazing, loving, and a strong spirit. He loved the Lord, his family, his yard and garden, fishing, hunting, and sausage making. He was a patient man, a wise sounding board, a mentor to many, and always put others before himself. He was a treasure, and he was abundantly loved and will be sorely missed.
