Arnold Roy "Rusty" Rihn, age 84, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Born at the family home in Biry Dec. 14, 1929, he was the son of Frank Ferdinand and Hilda (Bendele) Rihn. Rusty served in the U.S Army and the Reserve National Guard. He married Doris Marie "Bea" Wernette Oct. 10, 1951. He worked for Chapman Grain, Walter Mumme Water Well Service, for the Rural Electric Administration (REA) as a pole truck driver and for Production Resource as oilfield head foreman. He also owned Hi-90 Drive In and Rihn's Place. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, mowing, playing pitch, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years; daughter, Dana; son, Darrell Rihn; brothers, James, Walter and FrankRihn Jr.; and sisters, Frances Thornell, Anna Mae Mumme and Velma Billings. Survivors include his son, Dayle Rihn and wife Sally of Lytle; daughter, Denise Watkins and husband Donny of D'Hanis; grandchildren Robert and Katie Watkins of D'Hanis, Sarah and Samantha Rihn of San Antonio; and brother, David Rihn of Devine. The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, both at the Guinn-Horger Chapel.
