Arthur Lee "Pudro" Embrey, age 93, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, in Hondo, Texas.
He was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Hondo, the youngest son of William Henry and Lola Belle (Dutton) Embrey. He lived in Hondo most of his life, owning a Sigmor Shamrock station in the early 1970s and the Embrey Texaco and Goodyear and Firestone Tire dealership, later in that decade and beyond.
Pudro, as he was known to family and friends, attended schools in Hondo, was on the Owls Squad in 1945 and was a lifelong Owl supporter. He was also an avid bowler and a loyal Houston Astros fan. He volunteered for the Air Force and was assigned for duty at Lackland AFB in 1951.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Hondo.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: brothers, Roy (1911-1937) Charlie (1913-2008), Joe (1921-2018), and John Henry (1926-1958), and sisters, Margie Abbott (1908-1981), Fanny Robertson (1915-1991), Mary Belle Magers (1919-2013), and Margaret Embrey (1930-1933).
He is survived by many nephews and nieces and their offspring.
Graveside service and interment will be held at the family plot at Hondo Cemetery, Woodmen of the World Section, at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 14.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Hondo.
