Augustine Gonzales of Hondo passed away Sept. 17, 2008, at the age of 85. He was born May 28, 1923, in Hondo to Francisco and Luisa (Ybarra) Gonzales. Augustine was a painter and worked many years at Universal Rundle. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Bertha (Barrientes) Gonzales; sons, Ismael and Augustine Jr.; and daughters, Evangelina Perez and Hilda Gonzales. The Rosary and 11 a.m. funeral Mass were held Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
