Barbara Ann Wernette Davis, age 75, of Seguin finished her long journey home to be with her Lord on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014. Barbara Ann was born on Sept. 30, 1939, in Hondo to Oscar and Irene Ida Moebius Wernette. She attended school through the first grade in Hondo and completed her education in San Antonio, graduating from Burbank High School in 1958. She married Clarence Linwood Davis in 1958, sharing military life in the Air Force for 20 years, with assignments to Roswell, New Mexico, and Ankara, Turkey. Barbara was a member of Bethesda Temple (now Bethesda Christian Church) and enjoyed the fellowhip, conferences and church camps. She spent many Sundays attending morning and evening services and Bible Studies. During the 1980s and '90s she moved to Hondo to take care of her mother and worked for a time as an abstractor for Quality Title Company. In 2002 she moved back to Seguin to be near her children, Stephen and Lauri, spending her time as a homemaker and homeschooling her youngest grandson, Andrew. Her many interests and talents included oil painting, reading, traveling, arts and crafts, studying nutrition, and family genealogy. Being very creative, she was always sharing some little token of love with friends and family. Her last few years, prior to her illness, were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers and was an awesome cook and hostess. Barbara Ann was an inquisitive person, always studying, reading, searching for answers to life's mysteries; and solving puzzles. Her family genealogy is but one of her legacies. She is preceded in death by her father, Oscar Joseph Louis Wernette. Survivors include her 95-year-old mother, Irene Wernette; son, Stephen Lynn Davis; daughter, Lauri Leann Ivey; grandchildren, Stephen Baker Jr., Bradley Baker and Andrew Ivey; brothers, Kenneth Oscar Wernette, Gary Neal Wernette, Wayne Allen (Rose) Wernette; sister, Marilyn Irene (Kenneth J.) Heyen; six great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 p.m. and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bethesda Christian Church, 2210 Basse Road, San Antonio TX 78213.
