Barbara Jo Spencer Batot of Hondo, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 23 rd , 2023. She was 75. Born June 4 th , 1947, in Buffalo, New York, she was the daughter of Norma G. Weiland Crow.
Barbara married the love of her life, John, in 1963. Barbara was a homemaker, mom, Librarian, Sunday school teacher and wore many other hats over the years. Barbara and John moved to the family farm in Hondo in 2006. Barbara enjoyed spending time on the farm especially when the kids, grandkids and great grandkids visited.
Barbara was known as Mom, Momma, Barb, Barbie, Granny and friend to many. She had a sweet soul with a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John L. Batot, Sr. , her mother and her in laws.
She is survived by her sons, John L. Batot, Jr. (Linda) of Hondo, Michael Todd Batot (Roxann) of Bellville; daughter, Pam Conde (Frank) of Round Rock; grandchildren, Ashlyn Jones (Chris), John Michael Batot, Amy Strauch (RJ), Chad Gann (Allie), Aaron Batot (Katie), McKaylie Cornelius (Nolan), Lacy Phillips, Jessica Toth, Antonio and Francisco Conde; and great-grandchildren, Sutton and Mason Jones, Cademon, Colter, Cohen and Carlynn Strauch, Marlee, Ashton, August, and Gunner Gann, Bailey, Allie, Weston and Maci Rae Batot, Brinnley O'Neal and Bear Toth.
She is also survived by sisters, Jeanne Nokes, Nancy Rogers, Peggy Lucas, brothers Joseph Spencer (Karen) and John Spencer (Cindy); sisters-in-law, Pat Jackson and Jean Lansford (Harvey); and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home and the funeral will be Friday, March 3, 2 pm, at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.
Pallbearers are Aaron Batot, Weston Batot, John Michael Batot, Chris Jones, Nolan Cornelius, Chad Gann, Colby McManus, and Colten Jenkins. Honorary Pallbearers are Nate McManus, Cademon, Colter and Cohen Strauch and Mason Jones. At Barbara's request, her service will be officiated by family member RJ Strauch.
