Betsy Ann Ulrey Vannatta of Hondo passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at the age of 89.
Born in Indianapolis IN, March 24, 1932, she was the daughter of Edgar Lawrence Ulrey and Kathryn M. Harrold Ulrey.
Betsy loved her family, traveling and animals. She enjoyed knitting and taught line dancing for more than 20 years. In her early married life, she provided analytical support for Chuck Yeager in his X-Plane experimental flight series.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence E. Vannatta; and brother, James Ulrey.
Survivors are her daughter, Kathryn I. Griffin (Mark) of Bandera; son, Larry E. Vannatta (Kathleen) of Grand Prairie; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 15, 5 to 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m., at New Fountain United Methodist Church.
Interment will be Thursday, Oct. 28, 9:00 a.m., at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.
Memorials may be made in her name to New Fountain United Methodist Church.
