Bette Zane Zinsmeyer Fasano, age 57, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at her home in Weslaco, Texas. Bette was born in Hondo, Texas to Jack and Jeanice Zinsmeyer and grew up in D'Hanis, Texas. Bette graduated as salutatorian from D'Hanis High School in 1972 and received her degree from Texas A&I in Kingsville in 1976, where she was President of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. She then married John Fasano, son of Rocco and Ruth Fasano from Donna, Texas. Bette taught Math at Donna High School and retired in 2007. Bette loved being Nana to her grandchildren, volunteering at the Audubon Society and spending time with her family. Bette is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, John Fasano, her three children, Jason (Rebekah) Fasano of Edinburg, Texas, Jeana (Matthew) Lackey of San Antonio, and Rocco (Kelly) Fasano of Weslaco, Texas, her grandchildren Emma, John and Jenna Fasano of Edinburg and Jack Fasano of Weslaco, her mother, Jeanice Zinsmeyer Dube of D'Hanis, her siblings, John (Shirley) Zinsmeyer of Castroville, Tony Zinsmeyer of Phoenix, Arizona, Laurie (David) Santos of Yancey, Charles (Missy) Zinsmeyer of D'Hanis, Tony (Linda) Fasano of Donna, and many very special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and close friends. Bette is preceded in death by her father, Jack Zinsmeyer of D'Hanis and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rocco and Ruth Fasano of Donna. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 5 at 10am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 310 FM Road 2200 South in D'Hanis. The Mass will be preceded by a rosary at 9:45am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Those friends who wish may make memorial contributions to D'Hanis Lions Club or a charity of your choice.
