Jose Roberto "Bobby Joe" Cortez was born January 21, 1953 in Hondo. He passed away May 1, 2003 in D'Hanis at the age of 50 years 3 months and 10 days. Bobby was preceded in death by his father: Loreto V. Cortez. Surviving are his wife: Delia Zapata Cortez; daughter: Jo Anne Cortez; grand daughter: Marivelle Cortez; sisters: Rachel DeLeon, Celia Garcia and husband Roman; mother: Amelia (Molina) Cortez. The casketbearers were Joe Robert Torres, Steve DeLeon, Michael Muniz, Julio Gomez, Orlando Garcia, Michael DeLeon, Hernan Cortez, Frank Bermea. The Rosary was at 10:00 am on Monday, May 5, and the Funeral Mass was following the rosary, both at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment followed at the San Francisco Cemetery.
