Soon after graduating from Hondo High School, at the age of 17, Bonnie married the love of her life, Robert M. Buddy' Groff Jr. With him she went on a 15-year journey on the rodeo circuit and fueled a passion for traveling and a love of people. After retiring, Buddy said she started her "real job" of playing cards in her multiple bridge clubs.
