Carl John Jackson Guinther

Carl John Jackson Guinther, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, in Boerne. He was born on September 24, 1944, to Carl and Olene Fisher Guinther of Leakey, Texas. Carl was the oldest of three sons, growing up alongside his brothers, Roger and Max.

Carl graduated from Leakey High School in 1963. In 1967, he met the love of his life, Patricia Saathoff, at the Cabaret in Bandera. They were married on June 15, 1968, beginning a lifelong journey together. After spending two years in Austin, Carl and Patricia moved to Quihi, where they made their home and raised their three children: twins Keith and Kevin, and daughter Kelly.

Carl dedicated his career to the Alamo Community College District, specifically San Antonio College, where he worked as a computer systems specialist.

Outside of work, Carl enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, making wine, and traveling. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren—Dalton, Audrey, Kayla, Hayden, Addison, and Jaxon. After retirement, Carl and Patricia enjoyed traveling and making memories with his sister and brother-in-law, Dolly and Stanley Meyer. Their adventures took them to many wonderful places, including remote Canada, Belize, Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, and Mazatlán.

Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia; his parents, Carl and Olene Guinther; his brothers, Roger and Max; and his daughter, Kelly.

He is survived by his sons, Keith Guinther and Michelle of Dunlay, and Kevin Guinther and Nichole of Boerne; and his grandchildren, Dalton, Audrey, and Kayla, and Hayden, Addison, and Jaxon. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 14, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Quihi.

Carl’s life was filled with love, family, adventure, and cherished memories. Though he will be greatly missed, his memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.
