Carla Sue Grunewald Boehle of Hondo, 71, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

Born in Hondo, Aug. 7, 1949, she was the daughter of James Wilbur and Maxine Carey Grunewald.

After graduating Yancey High School, she worked 34 years as a bookkeeper and teller at Hondo National Bank. In 1982 she and her husband opened Boehle's Signs and Graphics.

She enjoyed retirement, going to the coast with her husband in their RV; spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; playing games with her family; and tending to her dogs and plants.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Patricia Hardt Grunewald; and her in-laws, John Henry and Lorine Boehle.

Survivors include her husband, Clayborne Boehle; children, Cindy (Kevin) Langley,  Connie Boehme and  Charles "Chuck" (Bryna) Boehle; grandchildren, Josh (Amanda), Ashley (Derek), Lance, Jessica, Jacob, Karlee and Lena; great-grandchildren, Daxton, Harper and Kyler; and siblings, Denise Grunewald, Wayne Sterling, Rodney (Cecile) Sterling, Janice Beason  and Jesse (Kimberly) Sterling.

Visitation will be Friday, Apr. 16, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel.

Memorial service will be Saturday, April 17, 2:00 p.m., at Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Devine. Honorary bearers are her grandchildren and their spouses. Services will conclude at the church.
