Carlos Aguilar Muñiz of D'Hanis, 88, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016. Born Nov. 4, 1928, in D'Hanis, he was the son of Ermelindo and Sabina Aguilar Muñiz. A lifelong farmer/rancher, he also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and American Legion. A skilled woodworking craftsman, he created beautiful birdhouses, wagons and wreaths among other things. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Clara Villasana; and brothers, Santiago, Aureliano, Edward and Jose Muñiz. He is survived by his wife, Eloisa Ramirez Muñiz; daughters, Lucy (Guadalupe) Moncada and Margie (Bobby) Ibarra, all of D'Hanis; son, Fred (Yvonnilda) Muñiz of Austin; grandchildren, Veronica (Dean) O'Donnell, Henry Moncada, Randy Ortiz, Teresa Muñiz and Brianna Muñiz; great-grandchildren, Kauy and Kelsi O'Donnell, Andrea and Ryan Ortiz, Max and Victor Moncada; brother, Frank (Ester) Muñiz of Ireland; and sister, Ambrosia Henderson of San Antonio. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 25, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will be at San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.
