Carmel Hernandez Hernandez of Hondo passed away early Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at the age of 82.

She was born in Hondo, Aug. 16, 1942, the daughter of Valente and Francisca Nira Hernandez.

Carmel was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Armando Hernandez and wife Corina; and grandson, Matthew Scott Hernandez.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 64 years, Elias Flores Hernandez; son, Jesus Israel Hernandez; daughter, Jessica Iris Hernandez-Methvin (Casey Methvin); 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Juan Hernandez (Jesusa) and Arturo Hernandez (Santa).

Rosary will be recited Friday, Sept. 6, 12:30 p.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by the Memorial Mass at 1:00 p.m. Services will conclude at the church.
