Carolina "Carol" Barrientes, age 67, of Saint Peters, Missouri, passed away on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, in Saint Peters.
She was born in Taft, Texas, July 11,1955, to Manuel and Maria Louisa Ramirez Barrientes (nee Ramirez).
Carolina attended Hondo schools and received her Bachelors degree in Administration from Columbia University. She worked for the USDA and for Military Medical Records. While in the military, Carolina received the Glenn E. Morrell Award, described as "the ultimate achievement award offered by U.S. Army Recruiting Command for recruiting excellence." She retired with the rank of E7 after having served 20 years in the Army.
In her free time, Carolina enjoyed watching football, especially watching the Dallas Cowboys. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family. Carolina was there for anyone who needed anything at all, no matter the situation.
Carolina is survived by her brothers, Guadalupe Barrientes and Reynaldo Barrientes, and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Manuel Barrientes, Jr., Bertha Parra, Beatrice Rangel, Ramiro Barrientes, Ernesto Barrientes, Jose Luis Barrientes, Oralia Rivera, Juanita "Janie" Zamarippa and Eloisa Herrera.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 5 to 9 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel in Hondo, pausing at 7:00 for recitation of the Rosary.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec, 29, 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo.
Interment with Full Military Honors will be Friday, Dec. 30, 1:00 p.m., at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
Assisting with arrangements are Newcomer - St. Peters' Chapel in Missouri and Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo Texas.
