Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Carolyn Jane Dramberger Rummel, of Hondo, passed away on December 16, 2008 at the age of 67. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Ray Rummel; daughter Mary Jo Peters and husband Doug of Hondo; son John Rummel of Hondo; son Mike Rummel; son Jeff Rummel and wife Lorina; daughter Judy Seals and husband James; daughter Karen Blanchette and husband Adam; daughter Sally Kirk and husband Jody, all of San Antonio; 19 grandchildren: Kandi Rummel, Stephanie Rummel, Andy Peters, Ryan Rummel, Derek Peters, Mitchell Rummel, Baxter Seals, Ben Seals, Julia Peters, Jana Peters, Nick Rummel, Victoria Rummel, Zachary Seals, Ethan Blanchette, Marissa Rummel, Emma Blanchette, Sarah Kirk, Abigail Blanchette, and Jacob Kirk. She is also survived by her sister Mary Van Horn and husband Jack of Hondo; brother Phil Dramberger and wife Sharon of Devine; sister-in-law Doris Claflin; sister-in-law Carol Schitchl and husband Tom, all of Conway, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents S.R. and Virginia Dramberger and brother-in-law Fred Claflin. She was born on Christmas Day in 1940 to S.R. and Virginia Dramberger in San Antonio, TX. She attended Blessed Sacrament Academy for 12 years. She married Kenneth on July 2, 1960 at San Jose Mission in San Antonio. They lived in several communities in Texas and Arkansas before settling in Hondo in 1971. She has been a member of St. John's Catholic Church for 37 years. She worked as a very busy mom, and at D'Hanis State Bank, Little Muppet Day Care, Brucks Insurance, and at the Torres Unit TDCJ before retiring in 2001. Carolyn cherished family and her faith in God, leading by being an example of strength, courage and honor in difficult times and relishing the joys of good times with enthusiasm, hope and humor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 on Friday, December 19 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hondo, with a rosary following at 7:00. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's as well. Interment will be held at San Fernando #2 at 1:30 p.m.. Carolyn was a supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
