Catherine Frances Laufert "Kay" Gibeau, formerly of Hondo, age 85, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Blue Skies of Texas in San Antonio.

Born in Baltimore, MD, April 3, 1939, she was a daughter of William James and Mary Elizabeth Tiedke Laufert.

A Registered Nurse, she served in the U.S. Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant during the Vietnam War.

After retirement, she and John traveled the country and settled at the SKP Park in D'Hanis, later building a home in that community. Later, with his health declining, they moved to Blue Skies of Texas, San Antonio.

She was a member of the SKP, Good Sam RV Club, Seton HS Assn. and St. Agnes Hospital Alumni Assn.

Kay enjoyed other activities in her spare time such as reading books and doing puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Peter Gibeau; brothers, Paul Laufert and Robert Laufert and sister-in-law, Barbara Gibeau O'Connor.

Survivors include her sister, Miriam Laufert; sister-in-law, Alma Laufert; nephew, Kevin O'Connor (Brenda); and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

At this time, no service is planned. John and Catherine's ashes will rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
