Celia R. Lopez Garcia of Hondo, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020. She was 75.

Born in Hondo, April 18, 1945, she was the daughter of Jesus and Cleta Rico Garcia.

Celia loved sewing and/or knitting ever so many things for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – small quilts to big knitted blankets, mittens, socks, dresses, etc. When it came to her favorite hobby, she was very creative.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard; and brothers, Catarino and Miguel Garcia.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Lopez; daughters, Cindy (Ruben) Ayala, Rose (Chris) Tovar and Jesscia (Alejandro Muniz) Lopez; son, Tommy (Sylvia) Garcia; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Eufemia Torres, Juanita Flores and Josefina Navarro, all of Hondo.

Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 18, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary service at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 19, 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Attendance is limited. Face coverings and social distancing are required.
