Clara Esquivel Carrasco, age 88, of Hondo passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. Born in Hondo, Nov. 13, 1927, she was the daughter of Francisco and Maria Guajardo Esquivel. A loving, caring, amazing mother, who was always there for everyone, she loved to laugh and joke around. She also loved to read, write and tell stories of memories past. She was our precious mother and will be missed dearly. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Ramon Carrasco who died Dec. 3, 2013; sons, Jessie, Jose and Guadalupe Carrasco; and brothers, Juan, Jesus and Cruz G. Esquivel and Eulalio Camacho. Survivors include her sons, Ramon (Estella) Carrasco Jr. of Denton, Pedro (Julia) Carrasco of Hondo, Rafael (Alma) Carrasco of Austin, Robert (Lisa) Carrasco of San Antonio, Genoveva (Juan) Peña of Colorado, Margie (Jose) Melendez of New Mexico, Terry (Hamilton) Duplessis of Hondo, Frances Oranday of Hondo, Mary Jane Carrasco of Hondo, Aurelia (Robert) Mares of Austin and the late Jessie, Jose and Guadalupe Carrasco; 33 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister of Edwardo Esquivel, Rita Corona, Consuela Delgado, Oralia Botello, Lupe Sanchez, all of Hondo. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Pallbearers are Terry Duplessis, Frances Oranday, and Aaron James, Peter, Ramon Jesus, Ashley and Joey Carrasco.
