Claude William Wengenroth

Claude William Wegenroth of Hondo, 93, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, in Pearsall.

Born Oct. 4, 1932, in Hondo, he was the son of William Adolph and Ophelia Biediger Wengenroth.

Claude graduated from La Coste High School where he was a star athlete and was honored as an All State Tackle. He joined the US Army in 1953 and served with a tanker group during the Korean War. He had attained the rank of Corporal before his tour ended in 1955. After returning home, he was an aircraft mechanic for many years at Gary Aircraft in Hondo.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd Phillip Wengenroth; grandparents, Phillip and Johanna Weiblen Wengenroth and Adolph and Mary Hutzler Biediger.

He is survived by his wife, Thelka Stiegler Wengenroth; brother, Dennis Wengenroth (Myra); sister-in-law, Betty Wengenroth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
