Clenus Walter Saathoff, age 74, of Hondo passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2008. He was born in Hondo on Aug. 28, 1934, the son of Walter Louis and Myrtle (Stiegler)Saathoff. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Mary Jane (Norton) Saathoff; sister, Alnita Jean Haby; and brother-in-law, William R. Schulte. Clenus retired after serving 20 years as an electronics technician in the US Air Force. He also worked as a pipeline maintenance technician and as a mail handler with the US Post Office. He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Chrestman) Saathoff of Hondo; sons, Donald Saathoff and wife Martha of Katy, Greg Saathoff and wife Tina of Soldotna AK, Jeff Saathoff and wife Stephanie and Bryan Saathoff and wife Mellisa, all of Anchorage AK; daughter, Tricia Dyson and husband Kenny of Hondo; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Lou Weeber and husband Harold and Necey Schulte, all of Hondo. Visitation was Monday, Nov. 17, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Saathoff, Bryan Saathoff, Charlie Loeffler, Greg Saathoff, Kenneth Dyson, and Brad Loeffler. Interment was at Quihi Cemetery.
