Clyde Leon Crawford, age 93, of Hondo passed away Sunday, Apr. 6, 2014. He was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Hillsboro. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lewis and Stella B. (Bailey) Crawford; and his three brothers, John William, Walter Lewis Jr., and Vernon Lee Crawford. He is survived by his true love, soulmate and wife of 72 years, Gladys (Schweers) Crawford; his loving daughter, Glenda Kay Crawford of Spring; son, Charles Travis Crawford of Hondo; grandsons, Gress Sparkman and wife Lori of Dallas, Scott Crawford and wife Rebekah of San Antonio, and Chris Crawford of San Antonio; granddaughters, Wendy Rector and husband Joe of Tomball and Amy Dean and husband Chris of Spring. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Crystal, Stephen, Jeremy, Adin, Shelby, Forrest, Bryce and Ben; great-great-grandson, Logan; sister, Connie Lynn Cullom of Waco; great-great-nephew, Terry Allen Eahart of San Antonio; and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family members; and a special person in his life, who he thought of as a son, Donald Eugene Nichols and his wife Lois of Bandera. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Apr. 10, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Program.
