Dale Patrick
'Pat' Williams
December 5, 1945 – March 27, 2026
Dale Patrick Williams awakened into eternal life and went home to the Lord on March 27, 2026.
Born on December 5, 1945, to EJ Williams and Maxine Jeanette Endsley Williams in Bellflower Naval District (Long Beach, CA), he became a lifelong Texan when his parents moved home to Hondo, Texas, to raise their family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patty, of San Antonio, and son, Kyle H. Williams (Shirley) of California. Pat is also survived by his sisters, Sharon Williams West and Dena Williams (Gary) Stripling of San Antonio, and sisters-in- law, Mary Rock Weynand of Castroville, Teresa Rock Rowlett of San Antonio, and Barbie Rock (Jay) Patterson of San Antonio; brother-in-law, John Rock of Hondo; and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was educated in Hondo and played basketball as a high school student, graduating from Hondo High School in 1964. He briefly attended Southwest Texas Junior College but soon discovered that he would rather find a career instead. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for a short while before finding his lifelong career as a Civil Servant of the US Government. He worked at Kelly AFB, first as a flight line airplane mechanic and ultimately as a Logistics Manager for the rest of his 41-year career. He retired from work in 2007, but not from life.
He married the love of his life, Patricia Lee Rock, on June 26, 1971. They made their home in San Antonio where Patty worked as a Registered Nurse. Kyle Hobson Williams, their only son, came into their lives in 1980 and Pat became a father and coach of many sports from baseball to basketball as Kyle grew up. He was quite a dancer, too, and he and Patty spent many happy moments dancing cheek to cheek to some country western song... and how they could waltz... After retirement, the Williamses traveled the world with their friends and had many wonderful adventures, both within the US borders and outside, but San Antonio always called them back home. Pat loved to read and always had a book at the ready. He always said he could sit for hours and just watch the grass grow. When his heart began to fail in 2023, his life became more dependent upon medical treatment and there were no more grand world adventures. Home in San Antonio close to his medical team was definitely the place he felt most comfortable.
Known for his wry sense of humor, dry wit, and fun-loving nature, Pat could tell stories with the best of them. He loved a good game of cards as well. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes and served his community of French Creek Village in various capacities on their Board of Directors. After his retirement, he took up the game of golf, enjoying the camaraderie of his friends and the chance to be out on the golf course, but, alas, he never quite perfected the game. He came to believe that golf really is a sport that cannot be mastered but only played.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the care and support of the Methodist Heart and Lung Institute and the Christus VNA Hospice as well as friends and family. Your prayerful support kept us strong and sustained us throughout his medical treatment.
Visitation will be from 1 to 1:30 and Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 2:00, on Thursday, April 9, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes. There will be a gathering following the service at the parish hall from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Private interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Road, Helotes TX 78023.
