Darlene Nester Schaefer Freeman, age 77, of Sabinal passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012. Born Oct. 3, 1934, in D'Hanis, she was the daughter of Henry and Ella Theresa (Brown) Nester. She had been employed at Vapo Gas, Sabinal Bank and Garner Abstract. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wesley Glenn Schaefer; grandson, Patrick Garrett; siblings, Ruth Ney, Stella Grinder, Lorine Lanford, Oscar W. Nester, Maurice H. Nester, Ervin A. Nester, Herbert C. "Herbie" Nester, and Otis E. Nester. She is survived by her husband, Vyron Freeman; daughters, Glenda K. Story and husband Charles and Sharen Garrett and husband Butch, all of Sabinal; stepchildren: Terry Freeman and wife Sue of Greenville and Faye Freeman of Kerrville, grandchildren, Christopher Story and wife Amber of Kerrville, Cheryl Cockerell and husband Marlon of Fairfield, Jason Garrett and Janna Garrett, both of Sabinal; sisters, Ruby McIntire of Georgetown and identical twin, Charlene Saathoff and husband Hugo of Hondo. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 19, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, Hondo. Graveside service will be Monday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m., at Waresville Cemetery, Utopia, followed by interment. Pallbearers were Chris Story, Gary Saathoff, Austin Schaefer Jr., Marlon Cockerell, Jason Garrett and Hugo Saathoff.
