David Diaz of Hondo, age 89, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Born Aug. 27, 1924, in Hondo, he was the son of Eleno and Teresa (Luna) Diaz. After serving in the U.S. Navy in WWII, David attended barber school and was a barber for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Armando Diaz and Eleno Diaz Jr.; and sisters, Antonia Diaz and Corine Cheney. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ruperta "Perta" (Ramirez) Diaz; daughter, Delores Miller and husband Stacey of Angleton; David C. Diaz and wife Senaida of Uvalde, Armando Diaz and wife Shelly of Three Rivers, David A. Diaz of Schertz, Alberto Diaz of San Antonio, and Richard Diaz and wife Crystal of Baytown; 12 grandchildren; and sisters, Belia Diaz Cappetta and Elsa D. Rodriguez, both of San Antonio. Funeral service was at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
