Delores "Lois" Jean (Smith) Lackey, age 75, of Yancey passed away Monday, Mar. 21, 2011. Born Sept. 5, 1935, in Port Arthur, she was the daughter of Henry William and Ruby (Washburn) Smith. She was a stenographer and a homemaker. Lois is preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jim Lackey of Yancey; son, Jeffrey Blake Lackey and wife Laura of Loganville, GA; daughter, Jennifer Gayle Prince and husband Richard of Yancey; sister, Beverly Ann Perkins of Orangeville; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 24, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, Hondo. Interment will follow at the Yancey Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to Parkinson's Disease research.
