Dixie Ann Winters Devers Fite of Hondo, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 4, 2006, at the age of 62. She was born in Pearsall, Texas, April 25, 1944, the daughter of Richard Donovan and Aleen Adele (Bohmfalk) Winters. She graduated from Balco High School. Balco, Oklahoma in 1962. Married Howard Earl Fite on September 5, 1992. Dixie was a waitress for almost 40 years until she was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. She worked at Hermann Sons Steak House, Golden Corral in Pleasanton, Texas, Flightline Café and Geronimo's. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Nelda Huschke, brother Richard D. Winters, Jr.. Dixie is survived by her husband Howard Earl Fite of Hondo; daughters Johnette Dixon and husband Jimmy of Hondo, Lissa Foulds and husband Alvin of Jourdanton, Sherri Ytuarte and husband Raul of Hondo, step-daughters Veronica Fite of Pampa, step-son Terrence Fite of McClaine; grandchildren, Kristi Lewis and husband John of Bryan, Tarah Boehle of Corpus Christi, S.A. Kevin Dixon of Great Lakes, Illinois, Tyler & Jon McMillian, Samantha & Stormee Foulds of Jourdanton; sister Florence "Flo" Chambers and husband Garland of Zapata; sister-in-law Kathy Winters of Gladewater; brothers Jay Winters, Sr. of Franklin; brother-in-law Alvin Huschke of Jourdanton; numerous nephews nieces and cousins. Dixie enjoyed playing volleyball, pitching horseshoes and especially bowling. She was a member of the American Bowling Association. She loved dancing. She enjoyed watching her childern, grandchildren, nieces and nephews growing up. She loved going to watch them play football, soccer, baseball, and softball. The Visitation was from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 8 at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m on Thursday November 9 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. The casket carriers were Tyler McMillan, John Lewis, Stormee Foulds, Kevin Dixon, Chris Chambers, Troy Chambers. Burial followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
