Dolores Jean "Dee" Rivera of Hondo, age 53, was taken from her family and friends on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

She was born Nov. 17, 1970, in Hondo, and graduated Hondo High School.

Dolores was very independent, dedicated to her family and friends, and her grandkids were her life. She was very loyal and always put others before herself. She worked for WalMart for 34 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Rivera, who died in 1989, and Teodora Garza Rivera who died in May 2024; and grandparents, Jose and Maria de Jesusa Constante Garza.

Survivors include her son, Joseph Sanchez (Hilary); grandchildren, Natalie Sanchez and Luna Sanchez; siblings, Michael Rivera (Yvonne), Angelica M. Sandoval (David), Christopher Rivera (Theresa), and Amanda K. Barker (Matt); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 10, will be from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
