Dominga Marez Garza of Hondo passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the age of 103 years, 6 months and 23 days.

Born on a ranch near Hondo on Oct. 19, 1918, she was the daughter of Jose and Concepcion Perez Marez.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Filomeno Garza; sons, Magdeleno, Patricio and Ramon; daughter, Erminia Garza; and all her siblings, Dominga Garza, Gregoria Zabala, Evangelina Cuellar, Pascuala Ontiveros and Isidro Mares.

Survivors include her sons, Luciano Sanchez, Pedro "Pete" Garza and Pablo Garza; daughter, Josefina "Josie" Ruiz; daughters-in-law, Elena Sanchez, Josie Garza, Ida Garza, Petra Garza; son-in-law, Alfonso Ruiz; 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 17, 6 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, May 18, 10:30 a.m. ,at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
