Donald Francis Santy, age 84, of Hondo passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014. Born Feb. 16, 1930, in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of Ira N. and Rosalba M. Croteau Santy. Eva and Donald shared a life of devotion to each other and their country. They were married 65 years and he served in the US Air Force for 27 years. After retiring, he took a job with NOAA for another 10 years, moving to what became their retirement home in Hondo. Lovingly known as "Pepa", he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His parents and sisters, Marjorie McCoy and Evelyn Santy, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Eva M. Santy; and their three children, Deborah Sills and Robert Santy, both of Hondo and Donna (Sidney) Crenwelge of Fredericksburg. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Joseph William Derry of Hondo, Tanya Russell of Roundrock, and Holly L. Crenwelge of San Antonio, and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Services will conclude at the chapel. The family suggests memorials may be made to Medina Healthcare Fund.
