Dorothy Louise Poerner DeGrodt of Hondo passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021, at the age of 89.

Born in Bigfoot, April 12, 1932, she was the daughter of Emil Frank and Rita Margaret Kenney Poerner.

Dorothy loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She took pride in her yard, flower and vegetable gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick J. "Fred" DeGrodt; and infant son, Blake Edward.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet Edwards (Mark); granddaughter, Tracy Tapia (Ernest); great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ainsley and Austen Tapia; sister, Helen Boehme, all of Hondo; niece, Paula Nolan (Paul); and nephews, Allen Boehme (Melissa), Steven Boehme (Teresa) and David Boehme (Tammy).

Visitation on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church will be at 1:00 p.m., followed by recitation of the Rosary at 1:30 and Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.
