Wiemers Fowler
September 17, 1943 – June 27, 2024
Dorothy Ann Wiemers Fowler was born on September 17, 1943, to Wesley and Norma Schroeder Wiemers of Hondo. She was baptized and confirmed at New Fountain Methodist Church and was married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Quihi. She married Travis D. Fowler on June 2, 1962, and they resided in Biry where they raised three children. Dorothy lived a widow for 29 years, helping babysit her grandchildren for many years and tending to her home. On May 8th she was moved to an assisted living facility, as Dementia had taken its toll. It was there she died, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, surrounded by her children and loving caretakers. She was 80.
During her lifetime, she had been active in Women of the Church and taught VBS and Sunday School. She served on the church council, worked on the church newsletter, and was a church youth leader- "QYLO". She was a very talented seamstress, crafter and gardener and loved to go fishing with family. She loved dancing and also table games, and she could count dominoes during a game of 42 and cards during a Pitch game! She loved doing puzzles and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. But, most of all she was a devoted child of God.
She is survived by her children: Chris Fowler of Devine, LeeAnn McReynolds and her husband Thomas of Hondo, and Clifford Fowler and his wife Kate of Devine;
By her grandchildren: Carl Fowler (Stephanie) of Seguin, TX; Cody Fowler (Bailey) of Hondo, TX; Caimee Fowler of Devine, TX; Rebecca Fowler of Hondo, TX; Linay Williams (Brazos) of Quitaque, TX; Heath Runnels, currently stationed at Camp Pendleton, California; Keldon Runnels of Hondo, TX; Corinne Fowler of Devine; and Owen Fowler, currently stationed in Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan;
By her brother: James Wiemers (Diane) of San Antonio;
By her great-grandchildren: Everrett Fowler, Levi Fowler, and Flint and Franklin Williams;
By her nieces: Sherri Grell of Hondo and Stacy Babineaux of Corpus Christi, TX;
By her nephews: Warren Grell (Amy) of White Bear Lake MN, James Wiemers, Jr. of San Antonio, Will Armstrong of Bandera, TX; and Dean Armstrong of Helotes, TX;
And several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Travis Fowler; her parents, Wesley and Norma Wiemers; her sisters, Evelyn Grell Steubing and Betty Jeane Wiemers; her niece, Marsha Wertz; sister-in-law, Janet Armstrong, and brother-in-law, Bill Armstrong.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 3, 10:00 a.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi, followed by interment at Quihi Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Carl Fowler, USMC Sgt. Heath Runnels, Keldon Runnels, James Wiemers Jr., Brazos Williams, and Earl Wayne Heath.
