Edmundo Herrera of Hondo, 89, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018. Born Dec. 22, 1928, in Hondo, he was the son of Jesus M. and Herminia Barrios Herrera. Edmundo attended Hondo High School and served three years in the U.S. Army. He retired as a castor after 44 years at Universal Rundle. He was a generous and loving man who enjoyed music, bowling, baseball, classic cars and casino gambling. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Pablo Herrera, Heriberto "Herbie" Herrera, Albert Herrera, Herminia Herrera, Maria Rosantina Herrera and Rosantina Herrera. He is survived by his brothers, Oscar Herrera of San Antonio and Carlos (Julia) Herrera of Hondo, and sisters, Diana Holly of California and Mary H. (John) Puckett of Cibolo. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Chapel, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
