Eduardo Ytuarte, age 80 years, 10 months, and 6 days, of Hondo, Texas, passed away in San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday, March 16, 2005. He was born in Hondo, on May 10, 1924, the son of Jose Angel & Concepcion (Medina) Ytuarte. Eduardo spent most of his life as a self employeed business owner. He organized the first Mexican-American baseball team in the 1940's with the Hondo Cubs and again in the 1970's with the Hondo Blue Jays. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Eugene Ytuarte, Sr.; brothers Rodolfo Ytuarte, Alfredo Ytuarte, Raul Ytuarte, Sr.; sister Dora Quiroz. Eduardo is survived by his wife Elsa (Enriquez) Ytuarte; sons Eduardo Ytuarte, Jr. and wife Kathy of Santa Fe, NM, David Ytuarte and wife Patsy of Santa Fe, NM, Roy Ytuarte, Sr. and wife Elenor of Hondo, Jerry Ytuarte and wife Linda of Cleburne, Joe A. Ytuarte and wife Lupe of Harper; daughters Thelma Deese and husband Jim of Kerrville, Elsa Cruz and husband Roy of San Antonio; sons Jose L. Ytuarte, Sr. of Hondo, Jose A. Ytuarte and wife Theresa of Hondo; daughters Erlinda Robles and husband Henry of Hondo, Connie Contreras and husband Daniel Eriquez of Hondo, Maria E. Piña and husband Joe of Hondo; sons Jose Alfredo Ytuarte, Sr. and wife Dolores of Hondo, Raul Ytuarte and wife Sherri Jo of Hondo; brother Jose A. Ytuarte, Jr. and wife Luz of Hondo. The Rosary was recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on March 20, 2005. The Funeral Mass was at 11:00 am at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday, March 21. The pallbearers were Christopher Aguirre, Paul Piña, A J Ytuarte, Jose Robles, Joe Louie Ytuarte, Jr., Eddie Ytuarte, Oscar Contreras, Jr. The burial will follow at the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
