Eduardo G. "Lalo" Esquivel of Hondo, 76, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019. Born Feb. 3, 1943, in Hondo, he was the son of Francisco and Maria Del Rosario Guajardo Esquivel. Edward loved his family and getting together with friends. He always had to have his morning coffee and he enjoyed his Dallas Cowboys football games. He will be remembered for educating others with his "facts of life" stories. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Consuelo Valles Esquivel; brothers, Jesus, Cruz and Juan Esquivel and Eulalio Camacho; and sisters, Clara Carrasco, Rita Corona and Consuelo Delgado. He is survived by son, Jesse Esquivel; daughters, Blanca (Ruben) Sanchez, Rosemary (Gabriel) Benites, Jessica Avila, all of Hondo; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren;; sisters, Oralia Botello and Guadalupe Sanchez; and nephew, Thomas (Dorelia) Delgado, all of Hondo. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m.at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 23, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
