Eduardo (Wayo) Ytuarte Jr. of Hondo passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019. Born Sept. 18, 1929, in Brady, he was the only child of Eduardo Ytuarte Sr. and Maria B. Aquaristi Ytuarte, who preceded him in death. Known as Eddie or Wayo, he was a very sociable man, striking up conversations anywhere he happened to be. He enjoyed dancing, visiting casinos and playing pool, at which his family said he was quite skilled. He earned a completion certificate as an automobile mechanic in 1954 from the Medina County Vocational School. After recuperating from severe injuries incurred while working at the Amistad Dam at Del Rio, he owned a Phillips 66 station at the corner of Ave. F and Hwy. 90 and his wife had an upholstery shop in the rear of the building. Later, in that location they built Ytuarte's Mexican Restaurant, which they owned and operated for 32 years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lupe Reyes Ytuarte; daughter, Maria Teresa (Hector) Vasquez; grandchildren, Michelle V. Palacios, Jenifer V. Vargas and Hector Edward Vasquez, Jr. ; and three great-grandchildren, Julian Vargas, Julissa Vargas and Soraya Palacios. Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 9:30 to 10 a.m., with a Rosary recited at 10:00, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
