Elgin Lee Wiemers, age 95, of Hondo passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015. Born Nov. 9, 1919, in Hondo, he was the son of John Henry and Ida Alvina Schneider Wiemers. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 69 years, Velma Nettie Muennink Wiemers; sister, Luella F. Schweers; and brothers, Alvin John, Olen W. and Reuben E. Wiemers. Survivors are his two sons, Onis (Katie) Wiemers of Devine and Dr. Delwin (Darlene) Wiemers of Hondo; five grandchildren, Jaclyn Wiemers (Paul III) Flores of Devine, Jason (Nikki) Wiemers of Castroville, Leann Wiemers (Jerimy) Solomon of Bigfoot, Michael (Kristin) Wiemers of San Antonio and Robert Wiemers of Hondo; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 27, 5 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, at First United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. The family suggests memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Hondo.
